Ashland NH Announces 150th Anniversary in 2018 Kick-Off Event SUNDAY 9/14/2014 2PM ? 5PM Ashland Railroad Station Museum Ashland, NH ? The Ashland NH 150th Committee invites the community to a Kick-Off Party to begin the planning for its coming 150th anniversary in 2018 to be held on SUNDAY 9/14/2014 from 2PM ? 5PM at the Ashland Railroad Station Museum at 69 Depot Street, Ashland. Anyone interested in generating ideas for or helping with the planning of Ashland?s Sesquicentennial and other historic celebrations are welcome! Participants are encouraged to bring photos, documents and Ashland memorabilia to share and/or donate. A scanner will be available to create electronic copies of printed material. The Ashland Historical Society will be available to accept donations of historic items for future display. A pot luck including sandwiches and drinks donated by the Common Man will be provided and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to pass. History themed games and events will be included. Participants will join in sharing ideas for honoring the coming milestone anniversaries in the town of Ashland including: 2014?s 80th Anniversary of the Squam Lake House/Ednor Hotel ?great hotel fire?; 2016?s 200th Anniversary of ?Year Without A Summer? honoring Reuben Whitten and 25th Anniversary of Pauline Glidden Toy Museum; 2017?s 180th Anniversary of the building of the Obadiah Smith/George Whipple House (now a museum); 2018?s 150th Anniversary of Ashland NH, 50th Anniversary of Ashland Historical Society, 50th Anniversary of Memorial Park established during the Centennial and 140th Anniversary of the birth of George Whipple in the Obadiah Smith/George Whipple House; and 2019?s 150th Anniversary of Ashland Railroad Station (now a museum). A separate account has been established by the Ashland Historical Society to accept donations to be used specifically for the 150th Celebrations and Memorials. The Society is a 501(c)3 NH not-for-profit accepting tax deductible donations for the 150th at PO Box 175, Ashland NH 03217.
