Location: The program will be in Belknap Woods. The trailhead has very limited parking. Anyone who is able, please plan to meet at the SLA at 8:45 AM and we will drive over in the SLA van. It’s about a 5-10 min drive. There are 12 seats available in the van. Our van cannot accommodate car seats or pets.

This Week's Program: Join LRCC member Elly for a morning meander through the Belknap Woods while we look for and chat about magnificent mosses! The program runs from 09:00 am to 12:00 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024. The Belknap Woods trail is a two mile loop and is considered an easy hike on alltrails. Learn fun facts about indigenous, WWI, animal, and modern uses of moss will be shared. As well as facts about the plants themselves and what makes them so special! Printed materials will be provided to help us identify the different types of moss we will see. Feel free to bring any material you have on moss like books or identification guides. Come learn or share your knowledge about moss! What to Bring: Participants should have sturdy shoes. Lots of water and snacks. Bug spray and sunscreen are encouraged. Event is rain or shine. Rain gear if that's what the weather is looking like. Let us know if you would be uncomfortable with there being pets on our walk, otherwise pets are allowed! Audience: All ages are welcome.
