Description
This Week's Program: Did you know that nearly 1,700 species of butterflies and moths have been recorded in New Hampshire alone? Join Lakes Region Conservation Corps members Meg and Peter on a moth-filled evening adventure at the SLA campus. Come learn about how important New Hampshire’s moths are to our ecosystems. You’ll also learn how you can help protect them in your own area! We will use a light sheet to attract moths (and other insects) to investigate, learn about, and share some information about these beautiful and mysterious creatures. Feel free to stay for the whole time, or just a little while. Either way, you will leave with some amazing photos and a new love and appreciation for New Hampshire’s native moths. What to Bring: Participants are welcome to bring any food and water they feel they might need for the duration of the program. Please wear or bring extra layers as it can get cold at night. The SLA can provide some headlamps and flashlights for the duration of the program, but feel free to bring your own! Audience: This program is open for anyone willing to stay up a few extra hours to observe some beautiful moths. All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Duration: This program is a drop-in program. Feel free to stop by anytime between 8pm - 10pm. Registration: Registration is encouraged for this free event!
