Description
Come join the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) for an Earth Week celebration hike at Whitten Woods on April 27 from 10:30am – 12:30pm. LRCC member Miranda Fisher will lead this peaceful hike. We will stop at the top to engage in a guided journaling activity. This will be a great way to continue celebrating Earth Day and reflect on what services the Earth provides us. The hike is a gradual 2.0 mile round trip to the summit of South Peak.
Earth Week is a great reminder to take a moment of appreciation for what the environment provides us and build community around that. This program will provide the opportunity to hike in a group and build community. We will then spend time reflecting on how we can carry the sentiments of Earth Week with us through the season and the rest of the year. Participants should come prepared for variable spring hiking conditions with extra layers, waterproof gear, and pen and paper.
For more information, or to sign up for this Adventure Ecology program, visit the SLA website (squamlakes.org) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). The SLA also offers other Adventure Ecology programs throughout the year. These free programs are open to the public and cover a variety of nature and conservation related topics. The Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the LRCC AmeriCorps members at the SLA who perform important conservation work in support of the Association’s mission.
The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and resources of the watershed. In collaboration with local and state partners the SLA promotes the protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region.
