Description
Come join LRCC members Emma and Miranda to celebrate the first full moon of spring! This will be a casual 2.0 mile hike up Fogg Hill by the light of the full moon. We will meet at the Fogg Hill trail parking lot on Wednesday, April 10, at 7:00 pm. This property is managed by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust and held in a conservation easement by the town of Center Harbor. It is a 235-acre area forming a significant part of a contiguous woodland and wetland habitat in the Waukewan and Winona Watershed. As we hike we will discuss this month’s full moon, the Pink Moon, and the importance of full moons.
Participants should bring any necessary equipment for winter hiking, microspikes and snowshoes can be provided for up to six participants, or you can bring your own if you’d wish. Extra layers and winter gear are recommended and will likely be warranted due to the later hour of the hike. For any more questions about what you may need on a winter hike, view our winter hiking checklist on our website.
For more information or to sign up for this guided hike, visit the SLA website (squamlakes.org) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). The SLA also offers other guided hikes and Adventure Ecology programming throughout the year. These free programs are open to the public and cover a variety of nature and conservation-related topics. The LRCC AmeriCorps members present the Adventure Ecology programs at the SLA, who perform essential conservation work in support of the Association’s mission.
The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character, and resources of the watershed. In collaboration with local and state partners, the SLA promotes the protection, careful use, and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces, and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region. Hiking Five Finger Point is one of many ways to enjoy and take in the natural beauty and peaceful character of some of Squam Lakes’ beaches.
