Description
This Week's Program: Are you looking for an excuse to bring your smartphone on your nature outings? Do you find yourself wondering about the identities of plants and animals you encounter? Join Lakes Region Conservation Corps members on a relaxed 1.2-mile hike around NH Audubon’s Proctor Wildlife Sanctuary and learn how the free iNaturalist app can help you learn more about the world around you. Everything we identify can be submitted to the iNaturalist database to become part of one of the world’s largest citizen science projects! What to Bring: If you would like to learn how to use iNaturalist, please download the app (available on iOS and Android) and create an account before coming to the program. This is not necessary to participate; you can also look on with another participant or just enjoy a nice stroll in the woods. Please be dressed appropriately for the weather, and note that the ground may be very muddy! Audience: All are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This Week's SLA Staff Guide: Peter Laskin is a Lakes Region Conservation Corps member serving with the SLA. He recently graduated from Harvard University in his hometown of Cambridge, MA with a degree in Integrative Biology. A longtime visitor, camper, and seasonal worker in the Lakes Region, he’s excited to get out and explore the trails with you!
