Largo and Scherzo movements are accompanied by multimedia We continue our celebration of America in this concert featuring a special multimedia presentation on Antonín Dvorák, arranged by former New York Times music critic and historian Joseph Horowitz. Attend the marriage of Hiawatha to hear the sonorous words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and experience the New World Symphony conducted by Donato Cabrera. Also on the program is Irish-American cellist/composer Victor Herbert?s Cello Concerto, played by NHMF?s principal cellist, Walter Gray. Herbert was a colleague of Dvorák?s, and some speculate the premiere of Herbert?s concerto inspired Dvorák to write his own.
