Description
Come join our LRCC Americorps members for a half day of trail work on the Col Trail from 9AM to 1PM. We will work to clear the trail corridor of overhanging vegetation and any blowdowns that have come down so far this winter. Volunteers will be pruning branches and helping us saw through any fallen trees obstructing the trail. Maintaining a clear path helps concentrate foot traffic onto the trail, reducing erosion and stress on the surrounding environment. This will be our first volunteer trail day of the season, so please come out and meet our new Americorps members! Minors must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required for this event. The lead for the day will contact you with information about when and where to meet along with any event specific information a day or two before the day of the event. The trail work will be conducted on the Col Trail leading up to the Rattlesnakes. Volunteers should come prepared with water, food, and appropriate clothing and gear for winter hiking. The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and resources of the watershed. In collaboration with local and state partners the SLA promotes the protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region.
