Woven Rocks with Jean Reed

Join artist Jean Reed at the League of NH Craftsmen – Meredith Fine Craft Gallery on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm for a Woven Rocks class. Let me share my weaving knowledge with you, allowing you to create your own weaving patterns on rocks. This unusual art form will give you some very basic weaving techniques with materials such as jute, leather, waxed linens and other cordages. This is a wonderful way to embellish rocks you may have picked up on the trails or at the beaches, during your travels. Some of my rocks have come all the way from Ireland and Colorado. Others that were gathered from a New Hampshire river bed will be supplied to you, along with all the materials and tools needed to create unique weaving patterns. I urge you to bring some rocks of your own and a couple of small branches (twisted grapevine is great or tiny pieces of driftwood). Keep in mind as you collect rocks, that no shape or size should be overlooked. As you can see from the photos, I’ve used a variety of large (5-6”), small (at least 3”), flat rocks are easiest to work with but round ones are a good challenge.
