Woven Rocks with Jean Reed

Join us at Murray Hill Weaving, 685 Murray Hill Road Hill, New Hampshire 03243 on Friday, July 25th, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm for a Woven Rocks class. In agreement with the Meredith Fine Arts Gallery, Meredith, NH this class is going to be taught at Murray Hill Weaving, Hill, NH. Plan to spend some time with me at the shop, in a comfortable country setting of Hill, NH. I’ll share my weaving knowledge with you, allowing you to create your own weaving patterns on rocks. This unusual art form will give you some very basic weaving techniques with materials such as jute, leather, waxed linens and other cordages. This is a wonderful way to embellish rocks you may have picked up on the trails or at the beaches, during your travels. Some of my rocks have come all the way from Ireland and Colorado. Others that were gathered from a New Hampshire river bed will be supplied to you, along with all the materials and tools needed to create unique weaving patterns. I urge you to bring some rocks of your own and a couple of small branches (twisted grapevine is great or tiny pieces of driftwood). Keep in mind as you collect rocks, that no shape or size should be overlooked. As you can see from the photos, I’ve used a variety of large (5-6”), small (at least 3”), flat rocks are easiest to work with but round ones are a good challenge. Don’t forget a brown bag lunch and a good sense of humor! Tuition is $70 per student which includes all materials. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
