About Us

The City of Franklin is a community steeped in the historic roots of New Hampshire. The City?s strong civic-mindedness, and its dedication to community service, is founded in the Family Homestead and farm of Daniel Webster, one of New Hampshire?s and America?s great statesmen. Located at the convergence of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee Rivers, and at the headwaters of the Merrimack River, the City had its economic beginnings in the manufacturing operations that relied upon the rivers for power. These same rivers, along with Webster Lake, help frame the natural landscape that is appreciated by residents and visitors alike. The historic nature of the City?s downtown was cemented [bricked actually] by the location of the mills, the construction of Memorial [City] Hall, the Public Library [funded by Andrew Carnegie], and the creation of Odell Park, which provides recreational opportunities for all citizens.
