About Us

The Belknap Mill Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve the Belknap Mill as a unique historic gathering place and to celebrate the Lakes Region’s cultural heritage through the arts, education and civic engagement.

Take a historical tour of the Belknap Mill Museum. We have three exhibits: the Knitting Machine Exhibit; the Powerhouse Exhibit; and the Mill Building itself. The Belknap Mill was built in 1823 and exists in near-original form. It was used for manufacturing up until 1969. Our exhibits explore the Mill’s industrial heritage including how the mill was powered and the people who worked here.
