Racing in Stilettos: Big Brothers Big Sisters Hosts Fundraising Events

MVSB (Meredith Village Savings Bank) and NHTrust have contributed $5,000 to support several Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire and Vermont fundraising events and campaigns throughout 2026. The support will benefit three upcoming fundraisers, the Stiletto Sprint in Portsmouth, Mile for Mentoring in Gilford, and the organization’s Thankful Giving campaign in November.

Proceeds from these initiatives help create and sustain one-to-one mentoring relationships that empower youth to build confidence, achieve their goals, and reach their full potential. "As a proud Big Sister, I have seen firsthand how powerful a mentoring relationship can be for a young person," said Cindy Hemeon-Plessner, SVP Chief Marketing & Experience Officer at MVSB.

"The encouragement, trust and friendship that mentors provide builds confidence, inspires growth and opens doors to new opportunities,” added Cydney Shapleigh, President of NHTrust. “Big Brothers Big Sisters makes these meaningful connections possible, and we encourage community members to take part in these events and support the important work being done for local youth."

"We are grateful for the continued support of Big Brothers Big Sisters and our mission," said Tim Kneuer, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire and Vermont. "Events like the Stiletto Sprint, Mile for Mentoring and Thankful Giving bring our communities together while helping us provide life-changing mentoring opportunities for more young people.”

All are invited to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire and Vermont by participating in their upcoming events and campaigns. Stiletto Sprint, a 40-yard sprint or strut in heels will take place September 19 in Portsmouth. Mile for Mentoring will follow October 4 at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, offering a family-friendly run and walk to raise awareness and funding for one-to-one mentoring. The organization’s Thankful Giving campaign in November and December invites donors to honor mentors who have made a meaningful difference in their lives while helping expand access to mentoring relationships for local youth.

For more than 55 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire and Vermont has created and supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that help children and youth achieve their full potential. Through community-based and site-based mentoring programs, the organization connects young people with adult mentors who provide encouragement, support, and positive role modeling.
