About the Role
Makers Mill is seeking a full time Program Director to lead the design, growth, and delivery of dynamic, mission-driven programs that connect people to creativity, skills, community, and livelihoods.
This is a highly collaborative, people-centered role ideal for someone who thrives on organizing complex initiatives, building relationships, and turning ideas into impactful, revenue-generating programs. The Programs Director plays a key role in advancing Makers Mill’s mission by cultivating engaging programming that supports membership growth, workforce development, and community connection.
About Makers Mill
Makers Mill is a nonprofit community makerspace and vocational hub in Wolfeboro, NH. Our mission is to enrich rural lives and foster fulfilling livelihoods by bringing people together to discover, cultivate, and share their unique gifts and skills.
We offer learning opportunities across woodworking, machining, metalsmithing, stained glass, fiber arts, fine arts, mixed media, leatherworking, digital fabrication, robotics, and more. We also host community initiatives such as 4H clubs, Adaptive Arts, Open Art Studio, Repair Café, and a Tool Library.
We operate using a sociocratic governance model, emphasizing shared leadership, collaboration, and consent-based decision-making.
What You’ll Do
Program Strategy & Growth

Develop and evolve a diverse, mission-aligned portfolio of programs

Identify opportunities to expand audiences, increase participation, and grow earned revenue

Collaborate with internal teams to align programming with organizational priorities
Program Operations & Delivery

Plan, schedule, and manage a robust calendar of classes, workshops, and events

Coordinate logistics, resources, and timelines to ensure high-quality program delivery

Maintain and manage program workflows, deadlines, and scheduling systems
Instructor & Stakeholder Engagement

Recruit, support, and retain instructors (both internal and external)

Build strong relationships with members, volunteers, and program participants

Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and “circle” teams to deliver programs effectively
Revenue & Partnerships

Support development of program-related revenue through fees, sponsorships, and partnerships

Collaborate with fundraising efforts, including grants and donor-supported programs
-
Cultivate partnerships that expand program reach and impact (e.g., youth, workforce, adaptive arts)
Systems, Communications & Evaluation

Maintain accurate program data in CRM systems (Nonprofit Easy)

Coordinate with marketing to promote programs and manage monthly outreach

Track participation, gather feedback, and evaluate program effectiveness

Ensure required waivers, agreements, and documentation are complete
How You’ll Work
This role collaborates across Makers Mill’s sociocratic “circle” structure, working closely with program planning, marketing, fundraising, shop volunteers.. Success in this role depends on strong communication, accountability, and the ability to navigate a collaborative, distributed leadership environment.

Qualifications
Required

Strong organizational and project management skills

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

High level of accountability and follow-through

Comfort working both independently and collaboratively with staff and volunteers

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and working across diverse communities
Preferred

Experience in nonprofit, education, or community-based programming

Experience managing events, classes, or workforce development initiatives

Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Asana, and CRM systems

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Working Conditions

Primarily based on-site at Makers Mill, with some flexibility for remote work
-
Shared office environment with standard office equipment

Regular computer use and administrative work

Occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and events

Periodic support for front desk, tours, and community-facing activities
Compensation & Benefits
-
Full-time, year-round position (Non-exempt, salaried)

Salary range: $45,000 – $60,000

Flexible scheduling with some remote work options
