Speare Memorial Hospital Named Among Nation’s Cleanest Hospitals for Third Consecutive Year

Speare Memorial Hospital has once again been recognized as one of the 396 cleanest hospitals in the nation by Becker’s Hospital Review, marking the third consecutive year the hospital has received this national distinction.

The recognition is based on patient survey data collected through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. Hospitals included on the list earned a 5-star cleanliness rating from CMS, reflecting patients’ experiences and perceptions of hospital cleanliness during inpatient stays.

“This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the experiences of our patients and the consistent dedication of our staff,” says Amanda Groleau, supervisor of Speare’s environmental services department. “To be recognized nationally for the third year in a row speaks to the pride our teams take in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for every patient, visitor, and staff member.”

The CMS HCAHPS survey is a standardized national survey that measures patients’ perspectives on hospital care. Cleanliness scores are based on patient responses regarding how often their hospital room and bathroom were kept clean during their stay.

According to Becker’s Hospital Review, only 396 hospitals nationwide achieved prestigious 5-star cleanliness rating this year. The survey data was collected between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, and updated by CMS in May 2026.

This latest recognition continues a strong tradition of excellence for Speare Memorial Hospital and reinforces the organization’s ongoing commitment to quality care, patient safety, and exceptional patient experiences.
